Planning for a Resilient San Leandro Shoreline Workshop

Rising seas and stronger storms are already reshaping the San Leandro shoreline — and the decisions we make today will determine how our community weathers the challenges ahead. The City of San Leandro invites you to be part of that conversation.

About the event

Join us on May 20th, 2026 at the Marina Community Center for a free, community-centered Sea Level Rise Planning Workshop focused on the future of the San Leandro Shoreline. This is an opportunity for residents, business owners, community organizations, and local leaders to come together, share perspectives, and help shape a vision for a more resilient San Leandro.

Date: May 20th
Time: 5:30pm - 7:30pm
Location: Marina Community Center, 15301 Wicks Blvd, San Leandro, CA 94579

What to Expect

This workshop is designed for everyone — whether you've been following sea level rise science for years or you're just starting to learn about what it means for your neighborhood. Over the course of two hours, you'll have the chance to:

- Learn about flood risks along the shoreline and how rising seas could affect parks, wildlife habitats, homes, and local businesses in the years ahead

- Connect with neighbors and local leaders who share your commitment to protecting this vital part of our community

- Make your voice heard by sharing what you love about San Leandro, what adaptation strategies interest you most, and what you believe the community should prioritize

Why Your Voice Matters

The San Leandro Shoreline is more than a scenic backdrop — it's a living ecosystem, a recreational haven, and a natural buffer that protects our community. The City of San Leandro, alongside local agencies and community partners, is developing a unified model for climate adaptation that enhances resilience, restores natural ecosystems, and deepens the connection between people and the Bay. But this work can't succeed without input from the people who know and love this place most.

No matter your background or level of expertise, your perspective is valuable. This workshop is your chance to help ensure the San Leandro Shoreline remains resilient, thriving, and accessible for generations to come.

Dinner will be provided. Accessibility accommodations are available upon request — please indicate your needs during registration.
